Berghotel Drei Brüder Höhe
The three brothers height or short height brothers is a mountain west of the city of Marienberg in the central Erzgebirge in Saxony.
History
Origin of the name
The name of the mountain was derived from the name of mine Old Three Brothers, which has its origin in the legend that three Italian-born brothers are said to have discovered here a silver gear.
Touristic development
In May 1883 a 18 -meter-high iron lookout tower on the three brothers height by the Erzgebirgszweigverein Marienberg was inaugurated, which had been built by Maschinenfabrik C. Reinsch from Dresden for a price of around 6000 Reichsmarks. The tower, which in 1884 named Princess Mary's Tower after the deceased wife of the then Prince George of Saxony, enjoyed as a leisure destination soon so popular that the member of the founded in 1878 Erzgebirgszweigvereins Marienberg, Gustav Loose, built in 1853/54 Huthaus Old Three brothers in 1886 an inn was built. Until 1977, the Berghaus Drei Brüder Höhe was owned by the Loose family, then it was sold to the building industry Marienberg and continue to operate until the end of 1985 as a restaurant. After the LPG Marienberg took over the restaurant, which it sold in 1992. 1992/93 was converted to the current Berghotel Drei Brüder Höhe.
The tower, however, was long locked baupolizeilich. In addition, he stood close to the restricted area at the military training area. He was therefore torn down and scrapped on 11 March 1977.
The city of Marienberg had built a new 25.4 -meter-high observation tower on the three brothers height, which was inaugurated on 12 May 1994, allows a good view of Marienberg and the immediate environment.
Location
The three brothers height lies on the western edge of the Marie Hochfläche on gravel wood. He can be reached via a branch of the federal highway 171 between Marienberg and Wolkenstein with the car.
Hiking to the summit
- The three brothers height is reached by marked hiking trails of Marienberg, Lauta, Gehringswalde, Selva or Großrückerswalde foot.
