Dremiel Byers

Dremiel D. Byers ( born September 11, 1974 in Newark, New Jersey) is an American professional wrestler. He was world champion in 2002 in the super heavyweight (up to 120 kg body weight) in Greco- Roman style.

Career

Dremiel Byers grew up in Kings Mountain, NC, on and worked there at a high school with football and wrestling. Where he does not seriously ran the rings. After high school, he attended North Carolina A & T College, where he still participated at the regional level in some championships in wrestling. He was also due to its excellent physical condition for a heavyweight wrestler then coach of the U.S. national team wrestler in the Greco-Roman style Steve Fraser on that caused that he entered in 1996 in the U.S. Army and a World Class Athlete Program the Army could participate at Fort Benning. Dremiel Byers is now Staff Sergeant U.S. Army.

As early as 1997 zeitigte this training his first success, because he was this year champion of the U.S. Army in the super heavyweight division. This title he also won 1999. 1999 he also became the first American champion in the super heavyweight division. In the same year, his international career began. When U.S. Champion 2003 Dremiel Byers started at the Pan American Championships this year in Guatemala City. He won there before Mijaín López Núñez from Cuba. In the 2003 World Cup he did not play.

In 2004 he fought against Rulon Gardner at the U.S. Championship and to the right to start at the Olympic Games in Athens. In the United States Championship Dremiel Byers won 3-2 and at the U.S. Olympic excretion Rulon Gardner won 3-2. This Dremiel Byers missed for the second start in the Olympics.

Following the resignation of Rulon Gardner after the 2004 Olympics was Dremiel Byers 2005, 2006 and again in 2008 American Champion Super Heavyweight, only 2007, he had to settle for third place finish. At the 2005 World Championships in Budapest, he left after his second fight in which he was beaten by Georgi Tsurtsumia from Kazakhstan and only came on the 13th Place.

2006 once Dremiel Byers at the Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro behind Mijaín López Núñez 2nd place, but came at the World Championships in Guangzhou / China to a victory over Wladimir Guralski from Israel and a defeat against Ismail Güzel from Turkey only 9th place. In 2008 Dremiel Byers finally managed to qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing, he won his first two fights against Alexander Tschernetzki from Ukraine and Liu Deli from China, but he lost in the quarterfinals against Jalmar Sjöberg from Sweden. As Sjoberg retired in Halbfinala, Dremiel Byers got no chance to struggle for a medal. He thus came on the 7th Place.
