Drenpa Namkha

Drenpa namkha (Tib.: nam mkha tuned pa ') was a master of Bön, the pre-Buddhist religion of Tibet. He lived in the 8th century and was known for his exposition of the compatibility of Bon and Buddhism in Tibet. Drenpa namkha participated in various debates between Bonpos and students of the tantric master Padmasambhava part and pointed out that a person who have attained realization, need to make any distinction between Bon and Buddhist followers.

According to legend, he should be then ascended into the sky and the moon and the sun have beaten like a few cymbals. With a golden razor he cut off a lock of his hair and was ordained by the Buddhist master Padmasambhava in the circle of the secret Mantrayana. He meditated much in the seclusion of the wilderness of Tibet and developed full enlightenment. He taught the Dharma many sentient beings. He was said to be present at the translation of many Dzogchen texts and spread the translations, comments and oral teachings of Guru Padmasambhava, as well as the higher teachings of Bön. From the Bon Drenpa namkha is regarded as a manifestation of the founder of the Bon tradition Shenrab Miwoche.
