Dresden Airport railway station, the airport railway station of Dresden. The station was opened together with the 1.15 km long extension of the railway line Klotzsche - border road on 25 March 2001 at Dresden Airport. The station was the first and only until the opening of the Leipzig City Tunnel deep station in Saxony. He is also the first railway station in Saxony and the eighth in Germany, linking the transport train and airplane passenger.

Description

Due to increased passenger numbers after the turn was started with a construction of a new airport terminal. This should get in depth of a railway station.

In the airport terminal, including the railway station, 220 million euros have been invested. The Free State of Saxony promoted the railway connecting the airport with almost 50 million euros.

Construction of the rail link to the airport was on July 30, 1998. By the summer of 1999, built of precast concrete tunnel was completed. The device connected to the single-track line double-track railway terminus was equipped with a 55 cm high central platform and two 140 m long platform edges. With the completion of the connecting line and the new terminal on 25 March 2001, the head station was opened. The station is located in the basement of the terminal ( level K) and is connected to this via stairs, escalators and elevators. In addition, there is an emergency exit, another stair access in the northern part of the platform.

The station had after its completion initially no electric traction lines. For operation with diesel railcars were the tracks Exhaust gas extrators. There is a fire barrier that can be closed in case of danger between the railway station and the airport terminal.

Only in December 2004, the tracks in the station was equipped with overhead conductor rails for the electric railway operation. Since that time, run in place of the diesel railcar locomotive-hauled carriage trains with electric locomotives to the airport.

In the currently valid zoning plan of the city of Dresden a route is kept free for a continuation of the railway line in the southwestern area of ​​the station. This connection can be established via the airport from Dresden- industrial land station from a loop that opens towards the east in the Dresden- Görlitz. Concrete plans for implementation of this project does not exist (as of 2013).

Transport supply

The German railway operated the station with the S -Bahn line 2 with two double-decker cars and a locomotive of class 143, with 78 trains daily in 30 -minute intervals. The journey time from the airport to Dresden Central Station is 21 minutes; to the station in Pirna 46 minutes.

In city traffic, there are links to the bus lines of the Dresden Transport 80 ( railway station Dresden -Klotzsche - Dresden Airport - Omsewitz; 20 -minute intervals ) and 77 ( Klotzsche - Infineon - Dresden Airport, and approximately 20 -minute intervals ).
