Dresden Panometer

The Panometer is a former gasometer in Dresden, where a monumental panorama image of the artist Yadegar Asisi is issued. From 2006 to 2011 was and after a revision again from December 2012 is the 1756 Dresden to see image showing the Saxon capital of Dresden at the time of Baroque. In between the work of Rome was 312 subject of the exhibition, which was shown previously in Panometer. The term " Panometers " is a neologism Yadegar Asisi and is a portmanteau of "Panorama" and " gasometer ".

Location

The Panometers Dresden is located on the gasworks road at the northern end of the district Reick in the former Dresdner gasworks. It is within sight of the railway line Dresden- Decin. Gasometer are very well suited by their structural requirements, such as construction and large round empty interior, as an exhibition center for large panoramic images.

Exhibition

2006-2011: 1756 Dresden

In the Gasometer and 2011, the 360 -degree panoramic painting was exhibited in 1756 in Dresden. It was located at the inner wall and was observed from a raised perspective right central site. It was subsequently revised. The image is 27 meters high, 105 meters in circumference and represents the imaged objects in perspective that size is where you would actually see them. The default view is a largely historical, partly artistic freely interpreted views from the tower of the Catholic Court Church at the Dresden Baroque time here as a fictitious sight in 1756, again. In an accompanying exhibition, the tour between panoramic image and Gasometer outer wall, information about the creation of the painting as well as the origin of the historic cityscape of Dresden could be seen. Exhibited were also historical maps and original illustrations from the 18th and 19th centuries. Were presented, for example, the bell of the New Town Hall and façade decoration of Dresden in the meantime destroyed buildings. Shown were also some during the creation of the panorama of Assisi himself painted views of the historic townscape.

2011 to 18 November 2012: Rome 312

Rome 312 and Rome CCCXII is the title of the panoramic painting that was to be seen until November 2012 in Dresden Panometer. The painting, which is based on a panoramic presentation of the 19th century by Josef Bühlmann and Alexander Wagner, showed the collection of Constantine the Great and his soldiers in 312 AD in Rome, after seeing his at the battle of the Milvian Bridge competitors Maxentius had turned off. The cyclorama was the only comprehensive account of ancient Rome in 1:1 scale.

History

In several years of research Asisi amassed information on the skyline of Dresden the year 1756 and transformed it into a panoramic image. Previously, he had realized with the Panometer a similar project. As a basis for the cityscape were often called vedutas, so realistic, historical accounts of the then city image. In the middle of the 18th century Bernardo Bellotto was called " Canaletto ", the most important landscape painter in Dresden. His pictures gave therefore timely templates.

On 9 December 2006, the Panometers was opened. In the first two years of its existence it had more than 500,000 visitors. Five years later, on 20 November 2011, which Panometers was temporarily closed and the panorama Rome previously shown already in Panometer issued from December 2011 312.
