Dřevnice in Zlín

The Dřevnice ( German Drewnitz ) is a left tributary of the Morava River in the Czech Republic.

Geography

The Dřevnice just East of Hrubá Jedle ( 644 m) at the settlement Kotáry in the Hostýnské mountains. About Kosariska, Hutě U Brány, Držková, Bilý Kopeček, Kašava and Sobolice it flows through the mountains in southern direction. In Hrobice the Dřevnice is jammed in the drinking water reservoir Slušovice. Subsequent locations along the river are Nové Dvory Březova, Slušovice, Vesela, Klečůvka and Dujka. In the Lipa Dřevnice changes its direction to the west and the railway line Otrokovice - Vizovicka Valašská Polanka follows its course. To the south of the valley rises the Vizovická Highlands.

Along the river follow Želechovice nad Dřevnicí, Lužkovice, Výpusta, Příluky, Pančava, Zlín, Prštné, Louka, Tečovice and Malenovice. Before Otrokovice the highway R bridged the river at 55 he joined the Moravian lowlands. After 42.3 km, the Dřevnice flows on the western outskirts of Otrokovice at the foothills of Mars Mountains in the March. Its catchment area is 434.6 km ².
