Drew Fata

Drew Fata ( born July 28, 1983 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player Italo- standing since August 2012 in the Sheffield Steelers in the British Elite Ice Hockey League contract. His older brother Rico is also hockey players.

Career

Drew Fata began his career as a hockey player in Canada's top junior league Ontario Hockey League, where he was active from 2000 to 2003 for the Toronto St. Michael's Majors and the Kingston Frontenacs. During this period he was in the third round selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 when a total of 86 players from the Pittsburgh Penguins, for which, however, he never played.

Instead, the defender from 2003 to 2006 ran for their farm team, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League and the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. On 21 December 2006, the shooter was left as a free agent contract with the New York Islanders. For this he gave in the 2006/07 season his debut in the National Hockey League, where he scored one goal in four games. In the following season the Canadians were in five NHL games an assist for the Islanders. During his time in the franchise of the Islanders, however, he played mainly for their AHL farm team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. In the season 2008/ 09 was Fata for the AHL San Antonio Rampage clubs and Binghamton Senators on the ice. After that he received on 7 July 2009 a one-year contract as a free agent with the Boston Bruins, but came exclusively with the Providence Bruins used. In addition, he suffered an elbow injury, so he was only on 27 missions in the AHL.

After the season 2009/10 Fata received a new contract and was initially unemployed. Only in October 2010, he received a sample contract with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, but only came in a game used and was released in late October again. On 1 November 2010 he received a contract with the Norwegian first division club Sparta Warriors, with whom he won the Norwegian championship for the season 2010/11. In the summer of 2011, the Italo - Canadians moved to his second home in Italy, where he signed the reigning champion Asiago.

In summer 2012, the Italo - Canadians has been committed for two seasons of the Sheffield Steelers of the British Elite Ice Hockey League.
