Drexciya

Drexciya was the Gemeinschaftspseudonym the musician James Marcel Stinson ( born 14 September 1969 † 3 September 2002) and Gerald Donald from Detroit, Michigan and is considered one of the most influential projects of electronic music.

History and style

Between 1992 and 2002, the duo released four albums and a dozen maxis on prestigious labels Underground Resistance, Warp, safe and clones.

One of the first projects of techno music Drexciya resorted to the rhythm of Electro, but combined these with harsh, the Industrial borrowed sounds to a completely independent style. The myth that surrounded the group throughout its existence, was formed firstly by the consistent confidentiality of the identity of the musicians. Secondly, all the publications linked thematically consistent motifs of science fiction with those of the abolition of slavery and the Atlantis myth and were legendary. Stinson published with his Elecktroids solo project in 1995 on the album Electric Warp World.

The identity of the musician became known only after the death of James Marcel Stinson: The full-time truck driver, the Council XL also published under the pseudonyms Shifted Phases, The Other People Place, Transllusion or Lab, died on 3 September 2002 in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 32 of heart failure.

Gerald Donald is still under the pseudonyms Doppler effect, Japanese Telecom, Arpanet and the cycle (named after the precursor to the Internet, see Arpanet ) active.
