Drexel University

Drexel University is a private university in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The school was founded in 1891 by Anthony Joseph Drexel as Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry. First, not an academic degree was awarded. The "bachelor of science" you could buy in 1914, when the 18 departments organized into four schools. 1927 granted Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Drexel the privilege to give the "master of science" and 1965 then the "doctor of philosophy " degree.

Drexel has changed the name twice: in 1936 it became " Drexel Institute of Technology " 1970 finally Drexel University.

Currently here are enrolled 17,000 students.

The sports teams of Drexel University are the Dragons. The university is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association.

The University Hospital is named Samuel Hahnemann.
