Drimia namibensis

Drimia namibensis is a plant of the genus Drimia in the family of asparagus plants ( Asparagaceae ). The specific epithet refers to namibensis the presence of the species in the Namib desert.

Description

Drimia namibensis grows with ovate - spherical onions with a diameter of up to 5 centimeters. The onion scales are fleshy. The leaf bases are cross- banded. Your terete roots are succulent. Drimia namibensis is widespread in the south of Namibia in the Succulent Karoo.

The first description as Rhadamanthus namibensis by Anna Amelia Obermeyer was published in 1980. John Charles Manning and Peter Goldblatt set the style in 2000 into the genus Drimia.
