Driss Maazouzi

Driss Maazouzi (born 20 October 1969 in Meknes ) is a French middle and long distance runner of Moroccan origin, was especially successful in the 1500 meter race.

Starting yet for his home country Morocco, he won at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 to tenth place above 1,500 meters. A year later he won at the Mediterranean Games in Bari at the same distance from the gold medal, while he retired at the 1997 World Championships in Athens in the semifinals. At the World Athletics Championships in 1999 in Seville he was eighth.

Although Maazouzi had in 1996 acquired French citizenship, he was awarded the international right to start for France in August 2000. A short time later, he finished at the Olympic Games in Sydney, ranked eleventh above 1,500 meters.
