Driver's license in the United States

In the U.S., the minimum age for obtaining a driving license is governed by the individual states.

A full valid driving license (full license) can be purchased in 22 states with 18 years, in ten States at age 17 and in 15 states with 16 to 16 ½ years. In the District of Columbia full driving licenses are issued only to persons over the age of 21.
