Drongo

Philippinendrongo ( Dicrurus balicassius )

The drongos ( Dicruridae ) are a songbird family, which are common in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Asia and Australia.

The family comprises two genera and 24 species.

Drongos are 18-36 cm tall and usually have black or dark gray plumage, their legs are short. Striking feature is the most distinctly forked tail, which ends in some conspicuous in two plumes.

Drongos primarily eat insects, they live in the bush or in open forests. You put 2-4 eggs in the nests perched in trees. Drongos are aggressive and fearless, they also attack larger birds of prey, when it comes to defending their nests.
