Dronten

Dronten ( listen? / I ) is a municipality on the Veluwe in the eastern Dutch province of Flevoland. About 20 kilometers west of Dronten is the provincial capital Lelystad, about 15 km to the east lies the town of Kampen and about 14 km south-east is the town of Elburg.

The church was rebuilt in 1972 and was on 1 January 2013 as stated by the CBS 40 670 inhabitants. It has an area of 424 km ², of which almost 335 km ² of land that is used primarily for agricultural purposes. To the municipality of Dronten Dronten addition to the town itself include the both villages Biddinghuizen and Swifterbant.

Because of its location on Lake Veluwe Dronten is a popular destination for tourism, which is why there are many camping and leisure activities here. This includes the amusement park Walibi Holland in Biddinghuizen.

A very striking building in the city is the cultural and congress hall De Meerpaal.

Coat of arms

Description: In split by blue and gold with cut-wave crest above a silver lily and below three red rings intertwined. The larger middle ring is covered by a black short post ( bollard ) with silver hood. On the coat of arms held by two rising black stallions rests a golden crown.
