Druine Turbulent

The DRUINE D.31 Turbulent is a self-made light aircraft of the French designer Roger DRUINE.

History

Roger DRUINE created in 1950 a very light sport aircraft, which should serve as a template for the amateur DIY. The prototype was tested in 1951 and 1953 introduced the production version. The blueprints were sold in many parts of the world; so it was built, for example, in the UK at Rollason Aircraft & Engines and in Germany under Wilhelm Stark in Minden (as D.31D ) in small batches to each about 30 pieces. The machine has been partially adapted to the relevant national provisions and modified. In Germany (as of early 2010) there are nine Turbulent admitted.

Construction

DRUINE D.31 Turbulent is a single-seat aircraft in timber construction, thanks to its equipped with nose wing slots has very good-natured flight characteristics. As engines (usually modified VW car engines ) came over twenty different models in the range from 25 to 75 hp used. Three aircraft were built in a limited certified for aerobatics version D.31A with reinforced wings.
