D/S Norden

The shipping company Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A / S is a large Danish Massengutreederei. It operates over 200 owned bulk carriers and tankers.

Business

The company was founded on February 11, 1871 by Mads Christian Holm and adopted in February 1872, the first ship, the Glasgow newly built freighter north into operation. In addition to building the shipping company founded Holm in 1882, the shipyard Helsingor Helsingor Skibsværft. In 1923 the shipping company took its first motor ship, the Nordbo in operation and 1946 was the last steamer Nordlys sold. In the early 1970s, the company turned to the dry bulk and sold in 1979, the last line of cargo ship. The company now employs 282 people in its country headquarters in Hellerup and offices in Singapore, Shanghai, Annapolis, Rio de Janeiro and Mumbai. In the carrier-owned ships around 880 seafarers are employed. The fleet consists of 182 bulk carriers (4 × Capesize, Panamax 8 ×, 69 × Panamax, 66 Supramax × and 35 × Handysize ) and 46 tankers (18 × 27000-42000 dwt and 28 × 42000-60000 dwt )
