DSB Bank

DSB Bank NV ( DSB abbreviation: Dirk Scheringa Beheer ) is a Dutch bank that became insolvent in 2009.

History

It emerged from the 1975 by Dirk shear Inga and his wife Inga Baukje shear -de Vries founded Finance Agency Buro Frisia. Dirk shear Inga was previously policeman, in his spare time he helped people with in its tax return and gave advice in financial matters. From the latter he decided to make his career in 1977, he quit his job as a police officer and started a full-time job as an independent financial services provider. Business was good, through organic growth and acquisitions, the company grew. In 1997, the company had to shear Inga assets of € 25 million and total assets of € 300 million. On 28 December 1998, the DSB Groep (Group ) was established, in which Buro Frisia came up. In the late 1990s Mr. Scheringa wanted to take his company public, it was estimated to a value of € 400 million. A few hours before the announced IPO in 2000, this was called off. According to shear Inga's reason was disagreement with the banks on the issue price of the shares. Shear Inga remained the sole shareholder and found other ways to attracting capital without the power to have to give out of his hands. The two most important parts of the company were present DSB Bank and DSB for savings products direct for credit products.

The DSB Groep ( group ) received on 24 December 2005 by the Dutch Central Bank a banking license and the company was in DSB Bank NV renamed. Unlike many other banks, the benefit was obtained from all the commissions on credit insurance contracts sold together with the loans. This coupling shops are banned in the Netherlands for consumer loans, but this was stopped in 2009 after it was widely discussed in the media.

DSB Bank was operating under a large number of trade names, which becam, Frisia Financieringen, Lenen.nl and Postkrediet are the best known. Among other things, DSB Bank was active as a sponsor for the Dutch football club AZ Alkmaar, the DSB speed skating team and the DSB racing team.

The company was to a small extent under the name DSB International and Belgium (7 sites), Germany (1 site in Dusseldorf ) and Slovenia active.

The normal deposits of DSB customers were secured in the Netherlands to € 100,000 by the Deposit Fund. From the bankruptcy of the Bank 400,000 customers were affected, the payment of the amounts in the deposit insurance system had to be applied by a consortium of other banks and by the Dutch Central Bank. The deposits were estimated to be about 3.25 billion euros.
