Active reactors ( gross ):

The nuclear power plant Duane Arnold (English Duane Arnold Energy Center ) is a nuclear power plant with a boiling water reactor. The nuclear power plant is located in Palo in the U.S. state of Iowa.

History

The construction of the power plant began on 1 June 1970. The operation took over the plant on May 19, 1974. The reactor was constructed from General Electric. As with all Mark I boiling water reactors of the type only a value of 10 % was achieved even with this instead of the predicted 90% confidence level. This means that in the event of an accident, the containment would not stand up and the reactor pressure vessel would explode literally. Consequently, the core would be located in the open air. In some reactors of this type of error has been resolved. The reactor in Duane Arnold is one of these enhancements to the comparatively safe reactors.
