Dubai Drydocks

The Dubai Drydocks are a shipyard on the site southeast of the port of Port Rashid in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which is operated by Drydocks World. In 1971 preliminary planning for a bigger yard which were implemented from the late 1970s emerged. In 1983, the first portion of the yard was opened. Today, working in the yard about 3,500 people; a majority of these workers are from India, Bangladesh or Pakistan. It is both a construction and a repair yard, the 400 ships reacted according to own data per year, mostly tankers over 200,000 tonnes of category VLCC and ULCC. The Dubai Drydocks is the largest shipyard in the Persian Gulf.
