Dublin is a city in Erath County in the U.S. state of Texas. In the city is the oldest bottler of Dr Pepper.

Geography

The city is located on U.S. Highway 67 in the southwest of the county, just northeast of the geographical center of Texas.

History

The town was founded in 1854 by AH Dobkins and probably named after his hometown in Ireland.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 3,754 people in 1,309 households and 920 families. The population density was 425.1 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 80.42 % White, 0.24 % African American, 0.91 % Native American, 0.11 % Asian, 0.03 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 16.25 % from other ethnic groups. Approximately 2.05% were of mixed descent, and 29.62 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 1,309 households, 39.8 % had children under the age of 18 living with them. 53.4 % were married couples living together. 11.7% were single mothers and 29.7 % were non-families. 26.2 % of all households were single-person households, and 14.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.38 persons to.

32.4 % of the population were under 18 years old, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 25.6% 25-44, 17.5 % from 45 to 64, and 15.5 % who were 65 years or older. The average age was 32 years. For every 100 females of all ages were 90.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 86.2 males.
