Development

During the financial crisis, in which Ducati was the early 90s, the monster was designed cost effective modular concept. The engines came from the Supersport series, the frame and the chassis with small changes of the Superbike series. Held in 2000 with the Monster S4 for the first time a water-cooled four-valve engine, known from the Ducati 916, in conjunction with more complex chassis components in the Monster series feeder.
