Duchess Caroline Mariane of Mecklenburg

Caroline, Duchess of Mecklenburg [- Strelitz ], even Karoline ( Caroline Charlotte Marianne, born January 10, 1821 in Neustrelitz, † June 1, 1876 in Neustrelitz ) was a member of the Grand Ducal House of Mecklenburg -Strelitz and Marriage 1841-1846 Crown Princess of Denmark.

Life

Caroline Marianne was the daughter of Grand Duke George of Mecklenburg -Strelitz and his wife Princess Marie of Hesse- Kassel. On June 10, 1841 she married the Danish Crown Prince Frederik in Neustrelitz, the later King Frederick VII, who after an unhappy childless marriage of his first wife had divorced.

After five years of marriage, which also remained childless, Frederik divorced in 1846, by Caroline Marianne, who returned to her parents' castle in Neustrelitz, where he spent 30 years.

She died on June 1, 1876 and was buried on 7 June 1876 in the royal crypt of St. John Church on Castle Island in Mirow.
