Duchess Louise Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Schwerin

Luise Charlotte, Princess of Mecklenburg -Schwerin (* November 19, 1779 in Schwerin, † January 4, 1801 in Gotha ) was by marriage Erbherzogin of Saxe -Gotha -Altenburg.

Luise Charlotte was the eldest daughter of Duke Friedrich Franz I of Mecklenburg -Schwerin, who later became the first Grand Duke of Mecklenburg -Schwerin, her mother was Luise, nee Princess of Saxe -Gotha -Altenburg.

First, in 1795 briefly engaged to the Swedish king Gustav IV Adolf, she married in 1797 Erbherzog August of Saxe- Gotha -Altenburg. Since her mother was like her husband from the same family, they had great-grandparents in common with this Duke Frederick II of Saxe -Gotha -Altenburg and his wife.

Luise Charlotte died before her husband in 1804 ascended the ducal throne in Saxe-Gotha -Altenburg. She had a daughter with this Louise of Saxe-Gotha -Altenburg (1800-1831), later Duke Ernst I of Saxe- Coburg -Saalfeld married.
