Duchy of Tridentum

The Duchy of Trent was one of many created by the migration of peoples duchies in early medieval Italy.

Trento was founded by Celts and later conquered by the Romans ( Tridentum ). After the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476, the city fell under various dominions, to Henry II, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, in the year 1004 decided to transfer the bishops secular power ( the Bishopric of Trento ). The 1027 Conrad the Salian set Siegel opened a new chapter in the history of Trent, while claiming the city over eight centuries.

1407 came in Trento to a revolution. Nobles and citizens of the city rose up against the bishop Georg von Lichtenstein ( 1390-1419 ). At the same time, there were peasant uprisings in other parts of Trentino, so that Duke Frederick of the Empty Pockets turned against the bishop and drove him from Trento.
