Dudince

Dudince ( until 1927 slovak " DUDINCE "; rarely Dudintze German, Hungarian Gyugy ) is a town in central Slovakia.

It is located on the southwestern end of the Karpfener plateau ( Krupinská planina ), approximately 27 km south-west of Krupina, and 15 kilometers north of Šahy. It consists of the actual place Dudince and the place Merovce (1960 amalgamated ).

The place is an old settlement site (Neolithic, Eneolithic, Bronze Age, Slavic Middle Ages) and in 1284 was first mentioned in documents as Dyud.

1589 was finally called by about 30 degrees Celsius, carbonated and sulfur springs that were in use for healing have been reported. In 1966, the spas were nationalized in place in 1989 was the place the town charter.

According to the census of 2001, there were 1,500 inhabitants, 95.67 % Slovaks, 3.53% Hungarians, 0.20 % Roma and 0.13 % Czechs. The most represented confession was 55.67 % with the Roman Catholic; to the Protestant faith to 28.93 % and 0.27% Greek Catholic known. 11.27% were non-denominational.
