Duenos Inscription

The DUEÑOS inscription is one of the oldest known texts in early Latin and dated to the first half of the 6th century BC.

The inscription is on a vase, which was discovered in 1880 by Heinrich Dressel on the Quirinal Hill in the Italian capital Rome. It is named after the first word of the third line of text.

Interpretation

The text is difficult to translate, since very few spaces available and the letters are hard to distinguish.
