Dueodde

Dueodde is a beach on the southeastern tip of Bornholm, which is known for its very fine white sand. The area around Dueodde was once a large sandy area, but in the 18th century, it was planted with pine trees and beach grass and beach rye to curb the drift of sand. Today Dueodde is a nature reserve. Quick caused by wind new dunes because the sand is so fine. The large dune area and the adjoining sandy beach begins about 30 miles away in Haslemere almost without interruption. The only other attraction Dueodde Fyr lighthouse on the southern tip, the highest on the island apart from the beach. The lighthouse was built in 1962 and allows a wide view from the top of the area.

Geography

Dueodde is the largest beach on Bornholm and can be reached by a short walk from the parking lot. Buildings in the area are the Dueodde campsite and the Dueodde hostel, the restaurant " Gran pavilions " and the Dueodde seaside hotel. Dueodde is located south of Nexø and extends over several kilometers of Snogebæk on the east coast to the south and west. Much of the area consists of pine and spruce trees, shrubs insensitive salt and sand dunes. The sea water is relatively warm and is basically the first 100 meters of a very shallow, then the water depth is greater. The resulting wind sand dunes piled up to twelve feet high. The fine white sand is also used in hourglasses. In the summer season, the entire beach is populated by tourists.
