Duingen

Duingen is a patch and the administrative seat of the velvet municipality Duingen in the district of Hildesheim in Lower Saxony. It is a member of Leinebergland region, established under the Leader approach voluntary association of various cities and towns in southern Lower Saxony.

Geography

Geographical location

Duingen is located just east of the Nature Park Weser mountain country Schaumburg- Hameln in Leinebergland between Ith, Thüster mountain and Duinger mountain. Conveniently located close to the source of the southwestern line - Saale inflow. Through the forest Duinger perform several walking and cycling routes to idyllic Duinger Lakeland with the Bruchsee, Humboldtsee, duck pond and Weinberger lake.

History

First mentioned in 824 as Duthungen, Dudingen, Dudinge and Duien. Later Duingen was ( ingen = settlement site, you are on the water = ) thereof. Here, the bubbling spring is meant in the " medium well". To 1233 survived the " Knights of Duingen " in the so-called " Tinne ". The " Tinne " stands in the way and is Alfelder Duingens oldest house. In 1642, the shearing house in the Hirtenweg 1 was built. Duingen had about 800 inhabitants at that time. The first windmill was built in 1661 on the Windmühlenweg. 1742 the windmill was built in disrepair and new. By the end of the 60s in the last century miller Grossmann worked. The mill was later converted into a residence. In 1977, the district Duingen wood Minden and was reclassified in 1981 in the district of Hildesheim.

On March 1, 1974, the municipalities Capellenhagen and Fölziehausen were incorporated.

In the postwar period, two Capell Hagen farm boy built by hand a glider with which they hired the first flight samples on the Ithwiesen now widely known and has been expanded truly capable of flight over several months, hard work. Fölziehausen is since ages by a strong, ducted as a fountain source to the homesteads of the small village clustered, supplied with water. In the community there are kindergartens, a secondary school, a primary school and two supermarkets, a bottle shop and an indoor pool.

  • The rail connection existed previously in the form of small railway Voldagsen - Duingen - Delligsen. Meanwhile, the track is no longer in operation, but a museum traffic towards Voldagsen is by the friends of small railway VDD sought.
  • About the bus line 64, the regional transport Hildesheim GmbH Duingen is connected to Alfeld and Thüste.

Religions

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Catherine, built in 1735-1739, designed by Ernst Braun, located at the parsonage. The church, whose pastor and parish, the church cared for in Coppengrave, part of the Church Union Hildesheimer Land / Alfeld.

The Catholic Church Good Shepherd was built on the Ebertstraße 1960/61. Since 2006 it belongs to the parish of St. Mary in Alfeld.
