Duisburg-Wedau–Bottrop Süd railway

The railway Duisburg- Wedau Bottrop Süd is an exclusively used by freight rail line in Germany. It leads from the former goods station of Duisburg- Wedau or from the goods station of Duisburg- high field south over the train yard Oberhausen West to the freight depot Bottrop Süd. The railway line connects this and many other important railway lines in Duisburg, Oberhausen and Bottrop, in particular, it establishes the connection to the Duisburg and the Ruhrorter harbor.

Strictly speaking, at the four-track railway line on the eastern outskirts of Duisburg by a total of three different routes, the share from the overpass over the Lotharstraße in Duisburg- Neudorf to the overpass over the top Meidericher mill in Duisburg - Obermeiderich a common route, largely parallel the Federal highway 3

From the branching point rolling mill (northeast of West Oberhausen and Oberhausen Hbf) the lines of different, previously -used in other relations routes are used, so here goes the VzG number at short intervals. All six rail lines as defined in list of permitted speeds are now classified as main line, double track and electrified throughout.

History

After the Prussian state railways had taken over all of the major private railway companies the late 19th century, now different route networks had to be together in a meaningful way. Although had the Cologne-Minden Railway Company (CME ), Bergisch - Märkische Railway Company ( BME) and Rheinische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft ( RhE ) their respective networks quite interconnected, yet and at times even performed separately in parallel. After the nationalization so many relations were repeatedly connected, without having to be but it used optimally.

The RhE had their railway Troisdorf- Mülheim- Speldorf built parallel to the railway line between Cologne and Duisburg and the CME (now Duisburg Hbf) joined shortly before the nationalization with its Duisburg train station. From there, the railway Duisburg- Quakenbruck led the RhE Oberhausen again approximately parallel to the railway line Duisburg -Dortmund (or later in the railway Tub Eickelmann -Hamburg ) of the CME.

Since both routes of RhE had never played a greater importance for the passenger, these were now used primarily for freight, the passenger station Oberhausen West ( formerly Oberhausen RhE ) shut down and the passenger services on routes of CME.

In place of the former Rhenish station a goods station was built with several ladder tracks and a total of over seventy shunting and sorting sidings. A new connection to the freight depot Oberhausen- Osterfeld Süd on the railway line Ruhrort - Dortmund (formerly CME) created On 1 June 1891.

In order to spare the through freight trains going through the Duisburg Hauptbahnhof, a completely new, two-track line on the eastern outskirts of Duisburg was put into operation on 1 October 1901 (now branching point Sigle ) leads directly from the freight station of Duisburg- Wedau to the branching point Düssern.

Ten years later this line was double track continued to be built parallel to the existing line to Oberhausen West, at the same time a further double track from the freight station of Duisburg- High Field South was on September 17, 1911 opened the branch point Düssern. Thus, the distance between the branch point and branch point Lotharstraße rolling mill is almost four tracks.

Current situation

On May 27, 1962, the lines were electrified. The freight station Oberhausen West today consists of lying to the east sidings, the Ausfahrgruppe, the Umspanngruppe ( " lock " ) and the terminal station for railways and ports GmbH " DK ".

The interlocking Oro and Orm ( Fdl ) represent the break-in, Orm and Stw 2 Ausfahrgruppe, Orm and Orw the Umspanngruppe, Orm and DK DK the area. The signal box 1 in the west of the station scheduled train services in the directions you Ruhrort harbor, Du- Meiderich Ruhr Valley and Oberhausen West Stw 2 and Orw.

1998-2006 the " node Oberhausen " have been completely transformed. The four-track entry and exit from Oberhausen West Oro to the branch office rolling mill was dismantled on two tracks, the connection turned over to Holland route. The reduced link to Oberhausen Hbf Obo on a track.

The curve Mathilde - Oberhausen West Oro - Oberhausen Hbf was removed and single track through bound to the Holland route. The opposite direction, via the connection from Oberhausen West to the Holland line and tangent to the freight station Oberhausen West in the branching point Oro. Trains from the branch point Ruhr valley, from Ruhrort port and Duisburg- Beeck go in the direction Oberhausen Hbf Obo since then Oberhausen West, the opposite direction is still connected directly to the branch point Mathilde.

End of the 1990s was from the branch point Ruhrtal a link to the freight depot Ruhrort harbor, which, taken " South Bend " in operation, which allows direct access to the port station from the south. Trains had not yet apply in Oberhausen West. For this purpose, a new single-track bridge over the Rhine -Herne Canal was built.

The maximum line speed is 80 km / h but is locally up to 70 km / h and 60 km / h and 40 km / h limited.

In December 2006, the CBI Duisburg Wedau was put into operation in the operations center of Duisburg. Two locally competent dispatcher ( özF ) control of this operation on the road sections Tiefenbroich - Duisburg Duisburg Wedau and Mannesmann - Mülheim (Ruhr ) Speldorf.

In the summer of 2008, the route interlocking Mathilde will take over the Ausfahrgruppe the station Duirburg -Ruhrort harbor. All other DB interlockings there are closed, replace the switch by EOW. A signal box Duisport Rail remains open.

View

The Oberhausen West Railway Station to be remodeled for years. Several plans for it were rejected. Currently to be built on the site of Germany's largest Ausfahrgruppe Lokomotivabstellanlage. For this, the process operation is to be transferred entirely to the train station Oberhausen- Osterfeld, but only taken in the West to the mountain back into operation and the eastern Ausfahrgruppe must be connected to the Hamm- Osterfelder route.

Trivia

Since the track at the Duisburg campus of the University of Duisburg -Essen ran right past it was under the compulsory merger of the Gerhard- Mercator - University of Duisburg and the University - University of Essen short-term considerations, north of the branching point Lotharstraße to build a platform. The same should be done on the railway line Osterath -Dortmund Süd, immediately adjacent to the south at the Essen campus. However, since in the direct direction of travel is no connection between the two routes exist, the plan was quickly rejected for cost reasons.
