Duiven
Duiven ( listen? / I ) is a municipality of the province of Gelderland in the region Liemers between the six kilometers north-west of Arnhem and Zevenaar. Duiven had on 1 January 2013 with a population of 25,544 and a total area of 35.15 km ². The municipality consists of the villages Duiven, sizes (read: Chrussen ) and Loo.
The community has direct access to the motorway A12 Arnhem - Oberhausen. The commercial area Centerpoort is located right off the highway.
The new railway line ( " Betuweroute " ) for freight that connects Rotterdam with the Ruhr runs, in part, by the community. The passenger rail service serves the small station of the local railway line Arnhem - Doetinchem - Winterswijk. The trains Arnhem - Oberhausen go to this station over only.
History
In the district of Loo was a Roman frontier fort. The history of the church until 1816 is very similar to that of the neighboring municipality of Zevenaar. Only Duiven was often plagued by floods. In the 18th century Duiven had an important brickworks and a major brewery. From 1986 to 1994, appointed by the State Duiven a growth community ( " Groeigemeente "). During this time, new neighborhoods were completely built and grew the number of inhabitants rapidly.
