Duke Adam of Württemberg

Adam Karl Wilhelm Nikolaus Paul Eugen of Württemberg ( born January 16, 1792 in Pulawy, † July 27, 1847 in Langenschwalbach ) was Prince of Württemberg and officer.

Life

Adam was the only son of Prince Louis of Württemberg (1756-1817) from his marriage to the princess Maria Anna Czartoryska ( 1768-1854 ). The couple divorced in October 1793 and Adam was educated by his father. He entered the Württemberg Army, but moved shortly afterwards in the Russian service, and fought 1814/15 in France and in Alsace. Prince Adam rose at Tsar Nicholas I, whom he knew from an early age, up to Lieutenant General and Adjutant General. During the November Uprising he was in Warsaw, but soon left the city to go to the Russian governor of the Grand Duke Constantine. He led in the war that followed a cavalry brigade under General Cyprian Kreutz .. In 1845 he resigned from the service of Russia. Until his death he lived afterwards mostly in Germany. Adam Karl Wilhelm von Württemberg remained unmarried.
