Duke of Coimbra

The title of Duke of Coimbra was founded by King John I of Portugal in 1415 for his second son, Pedro, created. Together with the title of Duke of Viseu, which was presented at about the same time, the title of Duke of Coimbra is the oldest in the country. With Pedro's son died in the line again. The title, however, the end of the 15th century for Jorge de Lencastre, an illegitimate son of King John II of Portugal was re-assigned " ad personam " (ie without heredity ).
