Dukes of Hamilton

The Dukes of Hamilton were a Canadian ice hockey team from Hamilton, Ontario. The team played from 1989 to 1991 in one of the three highest Canadian Junior Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey League ( OHL ).

History

The Toronto Marlboros in 1989 to Hamilton Hamilton, Ontario, relocated and renamed the Dukes of Hamilton. The name was chosen because the previous team was nicknamed Duke of Marlborough. In its first season, the Dukes reached just eleven wins in 66 games and collected a total of 28 points, after which it the ability to fight the Memorial Cup as hosts, denied, whereupon the OHL Kitchener Rangers finalist stepped in for the team from Hamilton. Although the team in the 1990/91 season could increase to 17 wins and 40 points, but the franchise was relocated to the season to Guelph, Ontario in connection, where it is active in the OHL since then under the name Guelph Storm.
