Dulal Dutta

Dulal Dutta ( Bengali: দুলাল দত্ত, Dulal Datta, * 1925 in Chandannagar, Bengal; † August 17, 2010 in Kolkata, West Bengal ) was an Indian Cutter.

Career

Dutta started as an assistant editor in Bombay. From 1955 he took the reins of the cut line. He oversaw the film section of all the films of Satyajit Ray and worked closely with him in this process. His style is praised for his " natural rhythm ". Dutta also worked for other directors as Haridas Bhattacharya, Tarun Majumdar and Sandip Ray and cut to share with Satyajit Ray James Ivory's film The Householder (1963 ), after Ivory was not happy with the first version. Dutta lived within the film world Kolkataer a retired life and occurred only rarely in the public appearance. He died of a stroke ( cerebral hemorrhage ).
