Dummy Ache is an American short comedy film directed by Leslie Goodwins from the year 1936.

Action

Edgar becomes suspicious when his wife Florence suspiciously behaving in the house and prowling. He does not know that she is rehearsing for a play. A little later he looks secretly at a sample. In one scene of the play Florence brings with her stage partner George Lewis for her unloved husband. The " corpse ", in reality only a doll, hiding in a laundry basket. In order to protect his wife from persecution by the police, Edgar body steals along with laundry basket. While he goes on a main street of his town with the basket home, is slowly pushed through the running motion, the deceptively real dolls hand through a hole in the basket, but which all attention is drawn to Edgar at the end.

Production

Dummy Ache was created as part of the "Average Man" short film series about the couple Edgar and Florence, which had begun in 1931 with Rough House Rhythm. The film was released in the U.S. cinemas on 10 July 1936.

Awards

Dummy Ache 1937 for an Oscar in the category "Best short film (two rolls of film ) " nominated, but could not prevail against The Public Pays itself.
