The Velodrome was built for the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000. The construction period lasted from February 1998 to November 1999, it was opened on 26 January 2000, the Australia Day. The velodrome itself is 250 meters long and made of pine wood. Was named the Sports Complex after the racing cyclist Dunc Gray, who won a gold medal in cycling as the first Australians, at the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
