Duncan E. McKinlay

Duncan E. McKinlay ( born October 6, 1862 in Orillia, Ontario, Canada, † December 30, 1914 in Berkeley, California ) was an American politician. Between 1905 and 1911 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Duncan McKinlay attended the public schools of his home. Later he worked in Flint (Michigan ), San Francisco, Santa Rosa and Sacramento as a coach painter. After a subsequent law degree in 1892 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started in Santa Rosa to work in this profession. Between 1901 and 1907 he was employed by the federal prosecutor's office in San Francisco. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career.

In the congressional elections of 1904 McKinlay was in the second electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Theodore A. Bell on March 4, 1915. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1911 three legislative periods. In 1910 he was not re-affirmed. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Duncan McKinlay was head of the customs authority at the port of San Francisco. He died on 30 December 1914 in Berkeley.
