Duncan Hallas

Duncan Hallas ( born December 23, 1925 in Manchester, † 19 September 2002) was a British Trotskyist and political activist.

Life

At a young age Hallas joined the Workers' International League and the Revolutionary Communist Party. The child workers joined the army in 1943 and quickly rose in the team levels. Hallas witnessed the mutiny of the Greek soldiers in Egypt and two years later was involved in the protest itself.

In 1951 he co-founded the Socialist Workers Review Group and the successor organization to the International Socialists. In 1954/55 he took part in the protests of the National Union of Teachers and campaigned throughout his life and for the movement. Since that time he published several books and articles (mostly in the party associated journal Socialist Worker ) on current issues and Marxist theory, which he learned a wide media publicity.
