Duncan Hunter

Duncan Lee Hunter ( born May 31, 1948 in Riverside, California) is an American politician of the Republican Party. From 1981 to 2009 he represented the State of California as a deputy in the U.S. House of Representatives.

After graduating from Rubidoux High School in Riverside Duncan Hunter attended Western State University in San Diego, where he Bachelor 1968 and 1976 the Juris Doctor acquired. In the meantime he received from 1969 to 1971 military training at the United States Army Airborne School. Then he began to practice as a private lawyer. In 1980 he was first elected to Congress in which he temporarily held the chairmanship of the Armed Services Committee.

Hunter confirmed in an interview on 30 October 2006, his interest in running for the 2008 presidential election. Since 2007 he was a candidate officially run for president. After the primaries in Nevada on January 19, where he was able to unite only 2 percent of the vote, he announced his withdrawal from the race. In 2008, Hunter did not run for Congress. He was succeeded by his son Duncan Jr..
