Dunes of Texel National Park

The National Park Dunes of Texel is a Dutch of currently 20 national parks. It is located in the province of North Holland on the island of Texel. It was founded on 1 May 2002 and has an area of about 4300 hectares. The National Park extends over the entire west coast of Texel and has a length of about 22 kilometers, with a maximum width of four kilometers to the south and the north. At its narrowest point near the village of De Koog contrast, it is only a few hundred meters wide. The highest dunes reach a height of almost 25 meters.

The landscape consists mainly of the dunes of the island, but there are also forests, beach, heathland and water surfaces and tidal creeks ( Slufter ). Just as diverse is the maritime embossed flora and fauna of the national park.
