Duoplasmatron

The duoplasmatron is a device for generating high-performance ion currents that developed Manfred von Ardenne. The ions are extracted from a gas discharge which is sustained with an electron in a magnetic field. The application areas of Duoplasmatrons extending from the nuclear and elementary particle research to industrial use. Duoplasmatrons for example, serve as an ion source in different types of particle accelerators.
