Dupatta

Dupatta (Hindi: दुपट्टा, Dupatta, Urdu: دوپٹا, even chunri, chunni, unni ) is a veil in the form of a long, wide scarves, the women in many countries of South Asia, especially in India and Pakistan, as part of the salwar kameez is worn.

Traditionally, the dupatta is worn over the head so that it covers both shoulders. However, it can also be used as a cloak.

The wearing of the scarf is now part of fashion, being worn thrown over one shoulder.

Meaning variant

In Andhra Pradesh, the duvet is called a dupatta usually.
