Duqaq

Abu Nasr Shams al - Muluk Duqaq († probably 1104 ) was the Seljuk ruler of Damascus from 1095 to 1104. He inherited Damascus and Syria by his father, Tutusch I, but had to go to a revolt of his older brother Radwan divide the kingdom with him. Radwan received the north, with Aleppo, Duqaq the South with Damascus. At his death he was succeeded Tutusch II.

When the Crusaders in the years 1097 and 1098 Antioch besieged, they were attacked towards the end of 1097 by an army under Duqaq who had marched north to Antioch to come to their aid. The first meeting went for Duqaq negative, an earthquake on December 30th and unusually cold and rainy weather in the weeks that followed brought Duqaq to retreat for the time being and not to harass the Crusaders on.

The second experiment together with Kerbogha and Radwan, to rid the city failed. When the Muslim army depwoyed before the city on June 5, 1098, she was already taken, and the subsequent siege of Christians ended with a battle on 28 June, in the subject the Muslims again.
