Duque de Caxias Futebol Clube

The Duque de Caxias Futebol Clube, usually referred to only briefly as Duque de Caxias, is a football club based in Duque de Caxias, a 20 km north-west of Rio de Janeiro located, industrial city of about 850,000 inhabitants. The club was founded on 22 February 1957 as Tamoio Futebol Clube. City rivals are the Tigres do Brasil.

As Tamoio Headquartered in the district Xerém club had to have no significant successes and remained unterklassig on state level. On 8 March 2005, the club was to popularize the name of the city with the idea renamed in Duque de Caxias FC.

2006, the club was the first time in the second division of the State League. 2007 occupied Duque de Caxias in State Cup in Rio de Janeiro, the Rio Copa to the 6th place, which was enough for a place in 2008 in the national third division, the Série C, to obtain. In the same year presented in the second division of Rio 6th place for the rise in the first state league, as this was increased to 16 clubs.

2008, Duque de Caxias qualified nationally by a fourth place for promotion to the second highest league in Brazil, the Série B. 2011, the club was relegated again.

Stadium

The club plays its home games at generally known as Marrentão club's Romário de Souza Faria Estádio. Named after the gleichnamnigen footballer stadium replaced 2007 Maracanazinho called Estádio Mestre Telê Santana. The stadium was inaugurated in December 2007 with a match against CR Vasco da Gama, which ended 1-1. In January of the following year Duque de Caxias lost the first official game in their new home with 1:2 against FC Cardoso Moreira 1-2. After the Marrentão was initially released only 4,000 spectators can be used since October 2008, all 10,000 seats.
