Duras (Lot-et-Garonne)

Duras is a commune with 1326 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Lot- et- Garonne in the Aquitaine region. It belongs administratively to the district Marmande and Canton Duras, whose capital it is.

Geography

The municipality is situated approximately 30 kilometers south west of Bergerac and is bordered to the southwest by the department of Gironde. Neighboring towns of Duras are:

  • Savignac -de- Duras in the north,
  • Saint- Sernin in the Northeast,
  • Pardaillan in the east,
  • Auriac- sur -Dropt in the southeast,
  • Saint -Pierre- sur -Dropt in the south,
  • Taillecavat and Cours -de- Monségur in the southwest,
  • Baleyssagues in the west and
  • Esclottes in the northwest.

On the southern boundary of the municipality of the river Dropt, coming opens the Dourdèze in the northwest runs.

Transport links

Duras is located off over regional transport links. Of importance are the only department D708 road which leads from Marmande about Duras to Sainte -Foy- la -Grande, as well as the D668, which connects in West / East direction Monségur with Miramont -de -Guyenne.
