Durbanville

Durbanville is a formerly independent municipality in the South African province of the Western Cape. It now belongs to the metropolitan municipality of Cape Town. Durbanville is a rural suburb with 54 286 inhabitants on the northern edge of Cape Town, which is surrounded by vineyards and wheat farms.

The Durbanville Wine Valley is one of the oldest wine regions in the Cape. Here are the wineries Diemersdal, Groot Phesantekraal, Meerendal, Nitida, Hillcrest, Altydgedacht, D' Aria, Bloemendal, Small Boos Boom, De Grendel and Durbanville Hills. The winery was founded in 1698 Diemersdal and built in Cape Dutch architecture; it is still family owned.
