Durmenach

Durmenach (Alsatian Dírmene, German Dürmenach ) is a commune with 927 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. She is a member of the Association of Municipalities Ill et Gersbach.

Neighboring municipalities are Roppentzwiller in the north, Muespach in the northeast, Werentzhouse the southeast, Bouxwiller in the south and Vieux- Ferrette in the southwest.

Demographics

The village was once inhabited 75% of Alsatian Westjiddisch speaking Jews, which is why it was called the " Jerusalem of the Sundgauvian ".
