Duster Bennett

Anthony " Duster " Bennett ( born September 23, 1946 in Welshpool, Powys, Mid Wales, † March 26, 1976 in Warwickshire ) was a British blues musicians. He played as a one-man band by the drum beat with one foot, played the harmonica on a rack and this served his guitar. This mixture was captivating and unique, so that he was a welcome guest in the blues clubs.

Career

His career began at the Art School in Kingston upon Thames and Guildford. In his live performances he combined his own compositions in the style of Jimmy Reed Blue with standards. He was often supported by his friends Peter Green and Top Topham. In the early 1960s he played often as a session musician on harmonica. In 1970 he became a member of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and went with them to America tour. After an appearance with Memphis Slim, he drove home, fell asleep at the wheel and collided with a truck, where he was killed.
