Duvin

Duvin ( German Duvin [ Duvin ]? / I ), ( rät. Duin [ duɪ̯n ]? / I ) was on 31 December 2013 to a municipality in the Val Lumnezia ( Damphreux ), District Surselva the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. On 1 January 2014 merged with the former municipalities Duvin Castrisch, Ilanz, Ladir, luffing, Pigniu, Pitasch, Riein, Rueun, Ruschein, Schnaus, Sevgein, Siat the new community Ilanz / Glion.

Romansh ( Sursilvan ) is the main language.

Duvin is the only village in the reformed Catholic District Damphreux otherwise. However, the neighboring communities Pitasch and Riein are reformed, but these are despite geographical affiliation to Damphreux already politically to the circle Ilanz.

Geography

From Duvin of which is located on a rocky terrace, you have a view over the whole Damphreux. On the right side of the Val separates as Pitasch Duvin of Pitasch. The Val Uastg separated on the left side of Duvin Camuns. " Val " is the Roman word for " gorge ", " valley " or " divide". Val da Pitasch therefore means approximately Pitascher - gap. " Uastg " is a proper name.

Of the total 1797 ha municipality are 180 ha of cultivated land, 755 acres pasture, 530 ha of forest and 332 hectares of unproductive land (mostly mountains).

Duvin limited until December 31, 2013 at Safien east, to the north by Pitasch, on the northwest by Cumbel and to the south and southwest Suraua.

Education

There is a small comprehensive school for the first to sixth class (along with the neighboring village of Pitasch ). Subsequently, the students attend the Real or secondary school in Ilanz. School language is Romansh, German is introduced as the first foreign language in the fourth grade.

Transport and Tourism

There is a post bus connection with a change in Mulin because Pitasch (stop at the post office car distance from Ilanz to Vals GR). You can also continue to Peiden bath and climb about 1 hour on foot to Duvin.

Duvin is the starting point for Hiking over the Lückli Guner ( 2470 m, 9.2865 ° E, 46.7092 ° N ) to Safien Square or Thalkirch. It was formerly the first of the three transitions ( Guner Lückli, Safierberg, Splügenpass ) on the way from front to Chiavenna Rhine, for the old Grison required 17 hours.

History

During excavations on a hill near the village graves were found, demonstrating that Duvin was inhabited in pre-Christian times. Around the year 840 AD Duvin was first mentioned as a settlement Auna. In 1290, Duvin ( Aiuns ) was mentioned in connection with two fiefs of the Bishop of Chur. In the 14th century the village was a bailiwick of the Barons of Belmont, in 1390 the Earl of Sax - Misox. The introduction of the Reformation took place in 1526.

Duviner Sage

An old legend explains why Duvin the only municipality in Damphreux the Catholic faith moved to Protestant. As was the entire population Duviner in a procession in Vrin, it began to rain, and all the hay the farmers was wet and therefore bad. Out of anger about the Duviner returned to their village. The entrained statue they threw over the cliff into the abyss. Residents of the neighboring community Peiden retrieved the statue. The ring as well as the little finger of the right hand were broken. The other three fingers were raised to the monkey hand. The statue said: "Twice Duvin will burn and the third time will overthrow the village in the canyon! " Since that day Duvin is Protestant. The statue is kept in a chapel in Peiden.

Two times the village is almost completely burned down. According to legend, it should fall So next time, in the Val Uastg.
