Duwenbeek

The Duwenbeek is the largest river on the island of Rügen. The creek begins on the northern outskirts of Bergen auf Rügen, flows around the Nonnensee on its eastern side and empties into the sea off the island Koselower Ummanz and thus in the Baltic Sea. He flows through the communities Rügen Bergen auf Rügen, Parchtitz and Kluis and partially forms the boundaries of the municipalities mountains, Trent and Gingst.

Renaturation

On the occasion of the world exhibition EXPO 2000, the project was habitats - The Duwenbeek project for the restoration of the creek launched. Parts of this project were the renewal of the nuns lake, the establishment of a wetland at the mansion in Boldevitz and a stone dam to reduce the flow rate of the stream in the reeds of Koselower lake.
